Discover the wonders of Hexham Abbey, head to Carlisle to visit the Tullie House Museum, Carlisle Castle, Carlisle Cathedral and Military Museum, or explore Northumberland's spectacular coastline - perhaps visiting Lindisfarne. Other activities can be arranged including golf, cycling, fishing, photography, game shooting and a variety of outdoor activities in and around Langley Castle.
Langley Castle lies just a short drive from Hadrian's Wall. Explore a section of the Wall at Cawfields, or head to Roman Vindolanda, where a current excavation is underway. You can also visit forts further afield.
Langley Castle has its own 0.7-mile walking route around the grounds and other longer routes that guests can follow, covering 1.8 miles (2.9km), 4.5 miles (7.2km) and 5.5 miles (8.9km). Ask at reception for a full copy of the southern section of the John Martin Trail leaflet, which covers 11 miles in total, but which can be broken down into shorter routes.
Northumberland's only racecourse is right on Langley's doorstep and is one of the most scenic in England, with various steeplechase race meetings scheduled each year.
