The grounds
Hartwell House stands in 94 acres of parkland, landscaped by a contemporary of Capability Brown, with a lake spanned by a stone bridge, a ruined church and many 18th century statues and garden buildings.
History of the hotel
This impressive house, which has both Jacobean and Georgian facades, has been skilfully and sympathetically restored by Historic House Hotels, which has extended the restoration to include the 18th century stables, coach house and indoor riding school to create bedrooms and suites in Hartwell Court.
Dogs Policy
Dogs are welcome in the Hartwell Courtyard suites only, by prior arrangement, two small dogs or one larger dog, and may be walked in the park and woods, but not in the garden. Damage to rooms or injury to livestock will be charged for. They supply a bed, water bowl, snacks and those all-important little bags. There is no charge for dogs, but only 3 Courtyard Suites available which are dog friendly, so this must be checked beforehand.
