Perfect for any occasion, The Galloping Major Restaurant creates a unique and exciting dining experience.
Situated within the Hall's original ballroom, The Galloping Major Restaurant celebrates the nickname of the 'local legend' of the Major who was the second owner of the hall and extended it to the grand mansion it is today.
The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner from noon, with our innovative and inspiring chefs delivering the very best of British produce with that all important Oddfellows twist.
The Galloping Major is a restaurant with a past..
Always on horseback, Major James Platt, second inhabitant of Bruntwood Hall was locally known at The Galloping Major. He created the equestrian stud on the estate which is now Bruntwood Park and also added one of the country's first sprung ballroom (at enormous expense) where the restaurant stands today.
By all accounts, he was a renowned character full of vitality, spirit and pep. Now he is immortalised in the magnificent room he created. The Galloping Major stands as it would have stood in those days with its original and dramatic decorative ceilings and enormous fireplace - all set off by dramatic floor-to-ceiling wine chillers and an open kitchen pass that sets the stage for a restaurant where the ingredient is king.
Creative chefs draw inspiration from the natural park and woodland around them to conceive simple yet masterful dishes.
On Sunday last orders in the Restaurant is 8 pm
Oddfellows On The Park is explicitly and unapologetically about fun, theatre and good times together.
Cocktails are all about the ingredients – you'll see home-infused spirits, plenty of our mixologist's inspired creations and an ‘odd' take on the classics. Non-alcoholic cocktails are equally delicious.
With our wine selection, we've taken care to reach out to family owned vineyards and artisan producers. We have some fabulous wines available by the glass, the carafe and of course the bottle - we are sure you'll enjoy trying them…
