SUNDAY LUNCH

When making the most of the weekend, why not opt for the fantastic Sunday lunch – the attention to detail that goes into each plate makes our Sunday offering the best lunch in the county.

With a choice of great quality roasted meats, a delicious Wild Mushroom Risotto for our vegetarian diners and an array of indulgent desserts, when it comes to Sunday lunch, Northamptonshire's produce secures their reputation as a true culinary delight.

Rushton Hall's Triangular Lodge was built in 1593 by Thomas Tresham to display his Catholic faith. The Triangular Lodge was constructed between 1593 and 1597. The lodges name comes from its design boasting 3 intricately designed sides, symbolising the Holy Trinity. This design is apparent not only in the buildings shape but also in other areas, such as the number of floors and the trefoil windows.  On the entrance to the front is the inscription 'Tres Testimonium Dant' ('there are three that give witness'), a quote from St John's Gospel. Rushton Hall's Triangular lodge allowed the Tresham family to escape through a priest hole, when Catholics were persecuted for their faith.

Rushton Hall Hotel & Spa - Afternoon Tea in The Great Hall restaurant

Afternoon Tea is steeped in history and tradition. Legend has it that tea was first discovered in 2737BC when a gentle breeze lifted a few leaves from a tea tree into the pot of boiling water belonging to Emperor Shen Nung as he rested.

Move forward a few hundred years and the 7th Duchess of Bedford is inviting friends to her quarters to enjoy a sandwich and cake in the 1840s.

In-between these dates, of course, Rushton Hall has established itself as the ancestral home of the Tresham family; Charles Dickens has stayed and Glen Miller is yet to play his final concert.

There could be no better setting to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea.

Join them in summer when the sun streams through the bay windows, or in winter with a cosy crackling fire.

Rushton Hall is delighted to serve the finest Afternoon Tea in Northamptonshire, so you can experience tradition and finery for yourself.

They serve two varieties; Traditional Afternoon Tea and Traditional Champagne Afternoon Tea.

They offer a range of finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserves and beautiful patisseries.

This is complemented by a selection of loose-leaf teas and tisanes. To accompany your Afternoon Tea, they have partnered with Laurent Perrier Champagne and the Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Company to offer a glass of Brut or Rose Cuvee Champagne, or non-alcoholic Sparkling Tea.
