Pre-booking is essential. Prime dinner times of 6-8.00pm do get booked up quickly.  Please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Please note in the comments section whether you would like a table in the Brasserie or the Inn, we will do our best to accommodate where possible but cannot guarantee a table in either area. 

They can cater for any dietary requirements provided they are mentioned at the time of booking.

Parking Facilities

Car park is free of charge to all hotel guests - space reservation is not required.

Electric Car Charging :

one Tesla and one universal car charger, first come, first served basis.

Disabled Access

Due to the age of the building, the hotel does not have a lift.

The Ashop room is an standard accessible twin room, including a wet room with grab handles for the toilet, and seat and handles in the shower.

Children aged 2 and under are free of charge (cots are free of charge)
Children 2 - 12 years are charged £35 per child per night including breakfast
Children 13 years and over are chargeable as adults

Chatsworth Health and Fitness Club

After a generous initial funding by His Grace, the late Duke of Devonshire, Chatsworth Gymnasium opened its doors on Sunday 12th September 1999. They now offer you the chance to use this excellent facility during your stay. The Club boasts a gymnasium, swimming pool and tennis court which can be booked for a small charge during your stay.

History of the hotel

The tale of a Chatsworth coaching Inn

The first mention of Beeley was in a Domesday Book of 1086 and later in 1236, as ‘Bewlag' and by 1346 as ‘Bylegh'. The Devonshire Arms originated as three separate cottages in 1726 and these were converted into an Inn in 1747.

During the period 1755-64 there were three Inns in the village. Only The Devonshire Arms has survived, retaining the charm of the 18th Century coaching Inn it once was.

Coaches carried visitors from London and the Peak, stopping in Beeley to rest the horses. Among these visitors was the distinguished writer Charles Dickens who was a frequent visitor in his lifetime. It is rumoured that King Edward VII often met his mistress Alice Keppel at The Devonshire Arms at Beeley.

Beeley parish register records that on Thursday 11th July 1872, there was a tremendous thunderstorm at 3.30pm. At Beeley the brook was so swollen as to flood the road, making it impassable at the front of The Devonshire Arms. History repeated itself on Sunday 31st August 1997, eerily at the same time of 3.30pm. The height of the water is marked on the beam in the bar.

Dogs Policy

Dogs are welcome in all Deluxe Twin / King rooms, dogs are charged at £15 per dog per night.
