How to get here

M20 j10, A2070 signed Lydd and Brenzett. At Brookland rdbt take A259 to Rye.

Rye is 20 minutes' train journey away from Ashford railway station, which connects to London St Pancras using the high speed link (38 minutes) – it is therefore possible to get from St Pancras to Rye in just over one hour!

Trains from London St Pancras Domestic (STP) to Ashford International (AFK) leave twice every hour – if you take the one that leaves every 42 minutes past the hour, it will arrive in Ashford in perfect time in step onto your onward train to Rye (from Platform 1, journey time 23 minutes).

Trains leave from Rye towards Ashford every 56 minutes past the hour – there is short wait in Ashford (20 minutes) then take the high speed train back to St Pancras (43 minutes past the hour, from Platform 5).

Please check current timetable and platform numbers at your time of travel.

The George is situated in the centre of the citadel area of this medieval town and unfortunately there is no car park on site. There is parking in the High Street yet limited to an hour. We suggest dropping luggage off at our main entrance – note that there is a double yellow line outside the front door and in front of that, a commercial loading bay, so we advise not to leave your vehicle unattended at any time to avoid being given a ticket by Rye's traffic warden, which has been known to happen from time to time.
Then go to park in the Cattle Market car park (off Rope Walk) which is a 3-minute walk from the hotel and is charged at £2.00 for 24 hours. For periods longer than 24 hours, please buy the relevant number of tickets at once and display all in the windscreen for the duration of the stay. Please note that this car park is unavailable overnight on Wednesday until 5pm on Thursdays as the weekly market takes place – but other public car parks in the town still operate.
