Arlington Mill
| Arlington Mill provides evidence of the wool trade which was so important to the prosperity of the Cotswolds in the Middle Ages. Its long history dates back to the eleventh century as there is evidence of the Mill in the Doomsday Book of 1086. The Arlington Mill Museum traces this history through a number of photographs and there is also fully working machinery dating from Victorian times. Arlington Row The Arlington Row of weaver’s cottages was built in the 1380s as a monastic wool store and the fabric produced here was sent to Arlington Mill for degreasing. Textile production stopped at the Mill in 1913 where the building fell into disrepair before being converted and renovated to its former glory in 1965. There is also an herb garden in the village which can be visited. |
