Holst Birthplace Museum

Located on 4 Clarence Road, Cheltenham, the Holst Birthplace  Museum is a small scale attraction dedicated to the life and work of Gustav Holst. Founded in 1974 by his daughter Imogen, the museum boasts an array of rooms, all decorated in the Edwardian style of Holst’s day. Step back into late nineteenth century Cheltenham by visiting the working Victorian kitchen and the elegant Regency drawing room.

The Planets Suite

It is in the same Regency terrace house where Holst was born in 1874 and still contains the piano on which he composed the Planets Suite, perhaps his most famous work. Lectures and tours of the museum are available.
